Married is Need or Desire?
The question of one of the Financial Literacy trainees at our Credit Union briefly made the training facilitator unmoved. I was then the projector operator was shocked. Indeed the question appears spontaneous but inevitably makes us think of looking for the right formulation of the answer.

Differentiating needs and wants is one strategy to maximize the management of family cash flow. As much as possible the need is at the top of the priority order of expenditure, after which it only places in the fulfillment of desire.
During this relatively easy example of how to scale the priority needs versus this desire. Needs are expenses that we must meet, otherwise our lives will be disturbed while the desire can be postponed or without it our lives can still run as usual. For example, eating is a necessity for everyone, but eating in a fancy restaurant may be a desire for some people. Not that it should not eat in a restaurant, but its financial budgeting should be good, so as not to undermine other needs or expenditure items that are more important to be met.
So this desire should be at the bottom of the shopping plan list. Or use other means, backing up the funds through income allowance. Especially if this desire drain a fairly large cost. For example back to the example earlier, to eat in a fancy restaurant our family needs a budget of Rp 1,500,000, - If Rp 1,500,000 is issued at once can disrupt cash flow, then we must set aside income first by entering a meal in the restaurant as a plan that will we meet some future time while setting aside revenue. For example, if every month we are able to set aside Rp 500.000, - then the next three months we have been able to meet these desires without fear of disrupting the family cash flow.
The same strategy can also be used for other purposes such as recreation out of the country, buying luxury furniture and others.
Back to the topic, getting married is categorized as a need or desire to be a question of which the answer is very relative. Can be called a necessity because marriage is a consequence of the nature of human beings as social beings and created by God different sex to complement each other. From a religious point of view, getting married is no doubt a necessity.
But if it refers to the original definition of desire, marriage may be a wish. Without marriage our lives can still run as usual.
Well, combining the two differences this way of view ultimately leads to the conclusion that marriage can be categorized as a need as well as desire. Depending on the perspective and situation of personal condition that will melakoninya.
This is a plenary conclusion to close our training sessions. Actually the same conclusion can be applied to various other expenditure items. Everyone has uniqueness in terms of financial strength, the position of accounts receivable, how to manage cash flow and the source and use of funds. Thus there is no standard size of any items that enter the category of needs and desires. The desire for a person may be a necessity for another, or vice versa. Dinner at a fancy restaurant may be a necessity for a tycoon, as dinner can be used as a way to entertain colleagues, or launch business with business partners.
Smartphone is a desire for housewives who just need a phone to call and SMS, while for housewives who doubles as bloggers and online merchants, a smartphone is a necessity. (PG)
